The best creative advice I ever got

The best creative advice I ever got

Hey there,

A while ago, someone shared a bit of advice that didn’t fully land until much later.

Creativity isn’t about being good. It’s about being curious.

At the time, I didn’t understand. I thought everything had to lead somewhere. That if it wasn’t useful or polished, it didn’t count.

But I’ve since talked with other women in STEM who felt the same way. Many of us have learned to aim high, stay efficient, and keep producing. Curiosity can feel unfamiliar. Even a little uncomfortable.

But it’s where the best moments often come from.

Instead of asking, “Is this good?” try asking:

  • What do I feel like exploring today?
  • What would this look like if I didn’t need to share it?
  • What would be interesting to try, just for myself?

When we create from curiosity instead of pressure, something softens. It becomes easier to enjoy the process, and easier to feel like ourselves again.

I wrote more about this here: A simple way to feel more present today.

Have you had a moment where curiosity shifted things for you? I’d love to hear about it. And if not, you’re definitely not alone.

Warmly,
